Laryngography (electroglottography)
Laryngography is a non-invasive method for measuring the vocal fold activity of test subjects during speech.
The laryngograph indirectly records the vibrations of the vocal folds in the larynx. The changing impedance of the vibrating vocal folds is measured on the two wings of the thyroid cartilage using two surface electrodes attached to a band on the neck. This means that the electrical resistance between the two electrodes is measured, which changes depending on the position of the vocal folds. An Lx signal is available for evaluation, which represents the opening and closing movements of the vocal folds.
