To register for courses
There are various ways to find courses in KLIPS 2.0.
Search via "My Degree Programme"
We will show you the easiest way for first-year students using the KLIPS view of a bachelor student of Linguistics and Phonetics.
You can then expand this to display all the modules that need to be completed in the respective area. If you click on one of the modules, the courses that you may have already completed will be displayed, as well as the courses that are offered for the respective semester.
Studium Integrale (SI)
In the bachelor's program, 12 CP must be earned in the so-called Studium Integrale (SI). In the master's program, this module is called the Complementary Module.
You can also find an overview of this under My Degree Programme in the menu on the left. Under each of the areas, you will find a large number of courses.
Please note that these do not all earn the same number of CP. Some earn 3 CP, but there are also courses that earn 12 CP.
Search via "Courses"
Registration
To enrol in a course, you first select the the module via which you would like to take the course. There are courses that are only assigned to one module, so you have no choice (see image). In the further course of your studies, however, you will take courses that are assigned to several modules, so you will have to select the module for which this course should be credited.
At the beginning of your studies you have to participate in practicals, which are held in smaller groups than the introductory lectures. There are always different dates for those. You have to choose one of the dates that fits best into your timetable, select the group with a tick and click on Register to register for the chosen practical.
Overview over courses registered for
Please note that registration for a course does not constitute admission! You will receive the admission, i.e. the Confirmed place, either after the enrolment phase in which you have registered, or after the last enrolement phase at the latest. You can see which courses you have received a Confirmed place for under , you can see under Courses\ My courses.
Tip: If you are still on the Place request list at the beginning of the lecture period, do not be discouraged to go to the first session of your course anyway. Often there are still places available, although KLIPS indicates that the course is already full. In addition, experience shows that not all participants come who have a Confirmed place. And as a rule, students who are studying at our department, will definitely be able to attend all compulsory courses.
If you would like to have all courses with their respective contents at a glance, you can have a look at our Annotated Lecture Directories.
Transferring Credits
As courses can often be booked via different modules, especially in our Master's degree programmes, it is possible to move a course to another module at a later date. You can do this yourself in KLIPS. There are two things to bear in mind:
- the “Aktive Teilnahme” for the course must already be booked
- the course must be bookable via the module you want to move it to
You can find out how to transfer credits in detailed instructions from the KLIPS Support.
