Workshop: Die ConLang-Schmiede
Ai! laurië lantar lassi súrinen, yéni únótimë ve rámar aldaron!“
“Ah! like gold fall the leaves in the wind, long years numberless as the wings of trees!”
- J.R.R. Tolkien, in his poem: „Namárië“ in his Conlang Quenya
You've spent a couple of semesters learning about the diversity of the world's languages, but you're exhausted and want to get a little creative?
Linguistics is just as diverse as the languages it studies! You can actually be artistic with it. We can imitate J.R.R. Tolkien and create a Conlang (=constructed language). In this process, apart from world and culture building, linguistic expertise is of course the most important factor. Just as you can't write music without harmony building, you can't create a language without linguistic knowledge. This workshop will help you to consolidate your knowledge from the basic modules in a creative way. In addition, you can also see it as a linguistic romp.
