Enrolled, what's next?
When you start your studies at the University of Cologne, you will first have to become familiar with two portals. While the e-learning platform Ilias is quite simple and self-explanatory, the use of KLIPS 2.0 comes with difficulties. For this reason you will find useful information and some instructions for the different functions here.
What is KLIPS 2.0 and what do I need it for?
KLIPS stands for the Kölner Lehr-, Informations- und Prüfungsservice (Cologne teaching, information and examination service). There you can attend your courses, register for exams and find important documents, such as your certificate of study.
What do I have to pay attention to as a first-year student?
At the beginning of your university studies, it is especially important that you first become familiar with the structure of your studies so that you know which courses to take. The module manual will help you with this. There you will find an overview of all modules and the corresponding courses that you have to complete during your studies. As further assistance you will also find information and suggestions on which semester is best for you to start which module or which course. It is important to note that not all courses are offered every semester. Please take this into account when planning your studies. But you can easily use the example timetable, which you can also find in the module manual.
A distinction is made between Basic, Advanced, Specialization and Complementary Modules as well as the module of the Bachelor thesis. You will also come across the so-called Studium Integrale, a module reserved for interdisciplinary courses.
Interesting for you at the beginning are the Basic Modules and, if you still have the time, the Studium Integrale.
