Do you have to write a linguistic  term paper right now? Can't you think of a topic? Do you have problems with the structure of the paper, the research for suitable literature and the bibliography?

Then you've come to the right place! Since the winter term 2019/2020 we offer a workshop for you during the lecture-free period, which will answer all your questions about scientific work. There are four dates with different topics. You don't have to visit all four dates, but you can sign up for those that interest you or deal with your questions and problems. Since scientific work does not only cause problems for first-year students, ALL interested people are allowed to participate, no matter how far you are in your studies. The only requirement is that you study linguistics (& phonetics) at our department, as we are concerned with writing linguistic (and not literary) works.

Important for Erasmus students: The workshop will be held in German!

But who are we, anyway? We are Lukas and Lisa, student assistants at the Department of Linguistics (Meister-Ekkehart-Straße 7, 3rd floor) and we are students of the M.A. programme Linguistics.

Where will the workshop take place? Via Zoom.

What do you need? A computer/laptop and your term paper (notes).

The next workshop will be held on February 18th, 19th, 22nd, and 23rd, 2021 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. each day. How are the main topics distributed?

  • Topic & research (Thursday, February 18th)
  • Approach & structure of a work (Friday, February 19th)
  • Citation & Bibliography (Monday, February 22nd)
  • Formalia & Writing Workshop (Tuesday, February 23rd)

Please fill out the registration form below if you want to participate. Since there are not always difficulties in all topics, you have the possibility to register only for the dates that are interesting or relevant for you. The registration is mandatory. If you find out at short notice that you can't make it, just send us an email (lbarz1[at] or l.laureck[at]

Do you have any special difficulties or further topic wishes that you would like us to consider? Then please let us know in the registration form below. We are looking forward to seeing you!
