Library

This library is a reference library, books cannot be borrowed!
Copying facilities are available in the neighbouring buildings of the Faculty of Special Education or in nearby copy shops.

Topic overview

Due to the interdisciplinary nature and versatility of the subject, our library covers different areas, e.g:

  • Phonetics and phonology
  • Linguistics
  • Individual representations of languages
  • Anatomy
  • Physiology and pathology of the organs involved in speech (in the broad sense)
  • Language psychology and philosophy
  • Physics
  • Mathematics
  • Statistics
  • Computer programming

Literature research

The Institute of Phonetics is taking part in the ‘Decentralised Cataloguing’ project, i.e. our specialist library holdings from 1989 onwards can be searched online. The retroactive cataloguing of earlier holdings is in progress.

All works in the library as well as eBooks can be found via the USB search.

Journals can also be searched via the central journal database (ZDB).

Access to online media such as eBooks and journals requires connecting through the university network. If you are not in the university network, we recommend using a VPN.

Further information on searching and borrowing can be found on the USB's pages.
