In KLIPS, the Cologne Teaching, Information and Examination Services, you can find the university calendar and organize your courses and exams. This is also where you register and deregister from your courses.
With the help of a virtual private network, you can log into the network of the university from anywhere. Amongst other things, this allows you to save files in SoFS (see below) and access restricted databases from home.
Through SoFS, the University of Cologne provides its students with 10 GB of online storage. It can be accessed from anywhere via the internet (if need be with the help of a VPN client). Its functions include daily backups, versioning and the possibility to share folders with other users. Additionally, General and Historical Linguistics offer course-specific material in SoFS at the location ifl4studies.
When using the university network, students can use databases for their research, such as the database of the Modern Language Association (MLA). The general search function of the University Library is also very useful. Also, the KUG (Cologne University's central library catalogue) lists a large number of books and journals that are available in the different libraries, which allows for quick literature research.
