The Sound of Indo-European 4

Phoncetics, phonemics, and morphophonemics

01. - 03. April 2020, University of Cologne

We are happy to announce the 4th installment of Sound of Indo-European (SoIE). After a five-year hiatus and three successful conferences (Copenhagen 2009, Opava 2010 & 2014) SoIE will be hosted for the first time at the University of Cologne, 1-3 April 2020.

As before, papers concerning the areas of phonetics, phonology and morphophonology of the Indo-European proto-language as well as the Indo-European individual languages will be accepted. Moreover, papers on the nature / mechanisms of sound change in general are also welcome. Presentations will consist of 20 minutes of speaking time followed by 10 minutes of discussion. We accept submissions in the four major languages of the field (English, German, French, Italian).

Abstracts no longer than 700 words must be submitted by 1 August 2019 and should be sent via email to SoIE-conferenceSpamProtectionuni-koeln.de. After a review process, successful candidates will be informed shortly afterwards. The registration (for attendance without a presentation) will be open until January 2020.

The conference will take place immediately following the Indogermanisches Forschungskolloquium (FoKo) / Indo-European Research Colloquium (IERC), 30-31 March 2020 in Cologne.
